Location: St Thomas Church ESPE Evening Following the benefit concert, we invite you to experience a taste of Leipzig in the historical and famous Moritz-Bastei at the ESPE Evening. Moritz-Bastei was built between 1551 and 1553 and is the only remaining part of the ancient city fortifications. It is situated behind the Gewandhaus Concert Hall and City Skyscraper in the heart of Leipzig. Moritz-Bastei was commissioned by Elector Moritz of Saxony in the 16th century and later named after him. It has survived 400 tumultuous years and it was used in many different ways. In 1974 students - the current chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, who was a physics student at the University of Leipzig, amongst them - began to work on the Moritz-Bastei, freeing it of debris it was filled with. Since 1989, the Moritz-Bastei serves as a Cultural Centre and event location. The buffet dinner will feature local produce and guests will have the opportunity to mingle around to meet old and new friends. After the dinner there will be live music in different categories that we hope will suit everyone - Jazz, classical, disco and piano music is on the programme! This will be an evening you won't forget! Tickets can be purchased online when registering for the meeting or by contacting: espe2012.registration@congrex.com Please note that tickets are limited, so advance registration is highly recommended.
