Abstracts
General Information
ESPE aims at a high profile in the scientific and ethical content of the meeting. It is the author(s) responsibility to ensure the scientific and ethical aspects of the abstract(s) comply with ESPE standards.
Disclosure of Conflict of Interest
All abstract presenters (invited and abstract submitters) must declare any potential conflict of interest on the abstract submission link. Invited speakers and presenters of free communications will also have to incorporate a disclosure slide in their presentation (as slide number two). Disclosure is mandatory for all presenters, whether they have a conflict of interest to disclose or not.
Abstract Instructions
Deadline for abstract submission and travel grant applications is 7 March 2012.
Abstract submission is available through online submission, and thus not by letter, fax or email.
The abstract must be written in English.
The title and text should not indicate the country of origin, unless pertinent to the topic.
Maximum 300 words / 2 000 characters (including spaces and excluding the title and contact information on authors).
It's obligatory to present the abstract text in the following order:
- Background (make it brief),
- Objective and hypotheses,
- Population and/or methods,
- Results (give numeric and statistical analysis, use a single table or graph when appropriate)
- Precise conclusions.
Case report/studies should also follow this structure.
Classify the abstract as basic or clinical, and indicate a topic which best describes the abstract. Do not submit abstracts on human or animal studies for which no ethical approval was obtained.
Submitted abstracts should not have been published or be in press at the time of submission.
It is the author's responsibility to submit a correct abstract; any errors in spelling, grammar, or scientific fact will be published as typed by the author, if accepted. Poor English may be a cause for rejection. The abstract titles will be proof read by the members of the POC before the notifications are sent, please adapt in presentations at the meeting.
Each author may serve as Presenting Author for a maximum of two abstracts.
All abstract presenters must register and pay the registration fee and are committed to make their presentation orally or stand by their poster as decided by the Programme Organising Committee. Deadline for low fee is in May, 2012. The fee is refundable if the abstract is not accepted.
The Presenting Author will receive all correspondence concerning the abstract and is responsible for informing the other authors of the status of the abstract.
Acknowledgement of abstract receipt will be sent to the stated email address. If you do not receive this confirmation within 24 hours upon submission, please contact Congrex at: espe2012.scientific@congrex.com
Notification on acceptance/rejection of the abstracts will be emailed in early June 2012.
Personal Page
Changes in the abstract are possible until 7 March, 2012 through your Personal Page, which can be accessed with the password included in the electronic confirmation of receipt.
Review Process
Abstracts are evaluated by 4 or more referees. An adjustment is made to avoid tilting the balance with generous or harsh referees and outlier scores are eliminated, giving each abstract a mark allowing their ranking. Ranked abstract are then selected by the POC for free communications or poster presentation subdivided in two areas P1 and P2, based on abstract scores. During this process, nor referees nor the POC have access to names of authors and/or centres. The decisions made by the POC are final. Abstracts are not eligible if already presented at an international meeting or would be published prior to the ESPE meeting.
Publication
Accepted abstracts will be published in the Meeting Abstract Book, as a supplement to Hormone Research, on a USB-stick and in the Programme Navigator, the online scientific programme.
ESPE President Awards for Best Posters
The ESPE President Awards for best posters are voted by Programme Organising Committee members after the last poster session and are given to 5 first poster presenters. The winners will be announced by the President at the ESPE President Poster Award’s session prior to the Closing Ceremony. The voting criteria will be based on the scientific content and style of poster.
The Awards consist of an official ESPE Award Diploma, a Presidential gift and a place in the official listing among ESPE Award Winners in the following year.
